History of the Department

history

The Department of Commercial Law, Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria welcomes you to its portal. The department is one of the four departments in the Faculty of Law. It is an academic department that is reckoned with its high quality of academic standard. The department is endowed with academic staff of repute and integrity who are committed to developing and mentoring students and researchers to achieve their goals and aspirations. The department has linkages with other organizations in the corporate industry such as the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission to drive its quest of promoting research that would satisfy the needs of the society. The collaboration gave birth to the introduction of Capital Market Law and Practice in the department, which was the first of its kind in the Nigerian Universities. Other emerging contemporary courses like Corporate Governance Law have been introduced in the department at postgraduate studies, to keep pace with the global trend of ensuring corporate sustainability. You will find it interesting to undertake a programme of study in the department. I wish you the best of endeavours.
