You are welcome to the Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria situate at the Institute of Administration, Kongo Campus. It is one of the sixteen faculties in the University, with four departments namely: Commercial Law, Islamic Law, Private Law and Public Law.

It has over 50 academic staff, and out of this number, there are Twenty Professors, four Readers, Six Senior Lecturers and the remaining consisting of Lecturer I, Lecturer II and Assistant Lecturers.

The Faculty is a very conducive place to pursue legal education because of its rich and exceptional history in legal training. Throughout its history, the Faculty has remained committed to the pursuit of excellence and its command of academic vitality, and providing a nurturing environment for Nigeria’s legal talent to blossom: a “cradle of Nigeria’s legal talent” as reflected in the number of its alumni as Justices, Kadis. The current Chief Justice of Nigeria, President of the Court of Appeal, President National Industrial Court of Nigeria graduated from our prestigious Faculty.

  • Facilities include: classrooms, lecture theatres, modern moot court room, law library and extra-ordinary spaces for studying.
  • A wide array of clinical and probono programmes that encourage students to obtain hand-on experience and represent clients, under the supervision of experienced lawyers.
  • A robust postgraduate programmes – postgraduate diplomas, master of laws programme (M.A. and LL.M), MPhil and PhD. The Faculty has partnership with the Nigerian Law School to train graduate from non-common law jurisdictions for remedial and Bar Part I Programmes.

As the only first generation University in the defunct Northern Nigeria, the Faculty trains Postgraduate student to meet the manpower needs of the sister faculties and legal departments in all the universities and other tertiary institutions in this part of the country. Consequently, the faculty attracts more students than any other faculty of law in Nigeria. The faculty will continue to produce law graduate who can practice legal profession both in Nigeria and abroad as well as compete actively on a global scale.
